About Access Communications Access Communications was founded in 1991 by Susan G. Butenhoff. An
accomplished consumer product marketer, she recognized early on that high
technology was about to enter the mainstream consumer market. Pioneering an
approach that has been imitated but never equaled, she brought the sizzle and
discipline of consumer marketing to technology-based products and services.
Now serving a diverse client base that runs the gamut from consumer products
to enterprise software and wireless clients, Access has grown into a bi-coastal
agency with 75 professionals serving clients from offices in San Francisco and
New York. Access Communications today is considered a “power boutique,” an
agency large and knowledgeable enough to serve national accounts but small and
nimble enough to provide hands-on service.
Known as a results-based media relations agency, Access also breaks all
records when it comes to staff tenure, with the majority of the staff averaging
more than five years with the agency. This is one of the reasons why Access
